Cliff Lede Vineyard 2021 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon: Review and Tasting Notes
Alright, more wine content coming at you, since this is, after all, still a wine blog. Today, I got to try Cliff Lede Vineyard’s 2021 Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon. I visited the winery this winter and picked this bottle up when I was there. Let’s get into it.
Aromas:
This wine is definitely from Rutherford. It has the distinct dusty quality associated with the Napa Valley sub-AVA. The aromatics add to the complexity of the wine. In terms of fruit, I got more red fruits like black cherry and raspberry, but also a slightly darker blueberry note. I also picked up notes of baking spices as well.
Texture:
I found this wine to have juicy fruit flavors on the palate. It had round, mouth-coating tannins and good structure. This wine is fairly well-balanced. I found it to have okay length. I felt like it could have slightly more length on the palate, but I did not think that it was entirely lacking.
Verdict:
I found this Cab to be delicious. The fruit was on the redder side, and I typically like a slightly darker fruit profile in my Cab, but there was an array of fruits from red to blue (Yes, the only blue fruit anyone knows is blueberry. Fuck off already). I found the nose to be complex and the texture to be balanced with fine, mouth-coating tannins. I would recommend trying this wine if you have the opportunity. This wine deserves an 8.5/10.
